Ex Libris really was this intimidating the first time I visited it. The place is actually split into FOUR separate floors on the inside, with each floor dedicated to either textbooks or art supplies. To save time (and the sanity of having to search for everything yourself) most professors would send the store a list of required materials for their classes, and you could just ask for a box of pre-sorted supplies at the counter upstairs. You'd end up carrying a whole armful of boxes home, but you'd save yourself at least an hour of searching.
